Gay Relationship Advice: Age Gaps in Lgbtq+ Relationships
Many of my LGBTQ counseling clients ask me why they are only attracted to male lover men younger than themselves. If you are happy digital dating gay men in their twenties, then this question is not important. Its like asking Why do I opt favor blondes over brunettes? My advice is to let yourself enjoy dating whomever interests you (as long as they are over the age of 18).
Age gap relationships are more common than you may comprehend. In western countries:
- 1 out of every twelve male/female couples has an age gap of 10 years or more
- that number increase to 25% in male/male couples
- and 15% of female/female relationships
That matching study indicated that age gap partners are more satisfied and more dedicated to each other than partners of similar age–though there is some investigate that points to a correlation with higher rates of divorce. Research also shows that couples with an age gap of less than ten years are happier than those with an age gap greater than ten years. The differences along generational lines illustrate a positive shift in the social acceptance of Gay people, allowing younger generations to feel more easy and more empowered to come out
WASHINGTON–New findings released this week from General Religion Research Institute (PRRI) polling and focus groups conducted last August and September show that 28% of Gen Z adults (ages ) identify as LGBTQ+, which is substantially higher than what’s been reported by other sources, such as Gallup. This increase highlights a positive change in the social acceptance of LGBTQ+ people amongst younger generations and is further proof that the American electorate will be increasingly more out and allied as members of Gen Z change In comparison, PRRI create that 16% of millennials, 7% of Generation X, 4% of baby boomers and 4% of the Silent Generation identify as LGBTQ+.
