Does anyone remember the children's entertainers Dennis and Jean Collins entertaining the children in Hunstanton in the s? They were a married couple from Cambridge who performed a magic show and provided children's entertainment over the summer holidays in Hunstanton for several years, organising beach games and an afternoon show at the outdoor wooden theatre on the North Promenade.
Well, I possess a collection of 16mm films shot by a man called Arthur Bagshaw of Thetford, who spent many holidays in Hunstanton with his wife and 2 young daughters. The films are mostly from and I think.
Uncle Dennis and Auntie Jean feature quite a lot in the films. It appears they were personal friends of the Bagshaw family, as the Dennis and Jean are frequently seen just with the Bagshaw family. Also shown in the films are many places no longer existing, such as the Blue Lagoon Swimming Pool, the boating lake, the pier and the Hunstanton Flyer miniature railway.
I join some stills I took while projecting the films. I have lots more if you would prefer to see them.
I showed the films on my 16mm pr There are many social groups across Norfolk and Waveney for Queer individuals.
