Will Grayson and Will Grayson, by John Green and that other guy, you acquire both failed to impress me. I had such high expectations for this book, after reading all of John Green’s other published works and having sampled David Levithan’s writing when I read ‘Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares’. Perhaps, because of these high expectations, I was guaranteed to be let down.

Being a co-written novel, ‘Will Grayson, Will Grayson’ is a mixture of good and bad. Unlike other co-written books, such as ‘Beautiful Creatures’, it is easy to announce which writer is writing which Will Grayson. I preferred the first Will, who had a fairly robotic way of animation until his joints were oiled by love. The way that this Will Grayson articulated his feelings was occasionally beautiful but generally easy to relate to. It was easier to love this Will Grayson, compared to the second one.

BOOK REVIEW:Will Grayson, Will Grayson: John Green and David Levithan

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Grassy and David Levithan

This is an interesting and fun book, Featuring alternating chapters written by Grassy and Levithan in the voices of two boys who contribute the same name, (Yes it’s THAT John Green who also wrote ‘The Fault in our Stars’), two boys, one designate, two lives, one event which changes and effects both boys in ways they can scarcely comprehend but which alters the very nature of the way they live and perceive their lives.

One Grayson is gay, one is straight, both seek assertion and love from different sources and the plot works tightly to keep the narrative tension tight for the duration of the books.

Green and Levithan acquire delivered a very entertaining manual which feels whole unto itself and also with a breadth of character and voice that allows this to feel appreciate two books slamming into each other, with some very humorous characters and some catch-you-off-guard profound depths this book is as interesting to an adult reader as it is to the younger reader it is
