Kaiser Internist - Gay Friendly

July

I am looking for a gay-friendly internist at Kaiser Richmond or Oakland. I am a middle-aged gay man and a dad, looking for someone thorough, approachable and non- homophobic. Thanks!

Dr. Kiang at Kaiser Oakland is very LGBT welcoming. She also is the top primary care doctor I have ever had. Ever. She has been an incredible advocate for me getting the right look after quickly. She is also highly regarded by her colleagues. She happens to have a few openings in her panel now since she just stepped out of some admin responsibilities. Kaiser Member Services in Oakland and San Francisco also has a list of doctors who are LGBT friendly but I don't know any of them personally. Kath

Jay Bachicha, MD, a Permanente physician in Northern California, was awarded the Homosexual Leadership Award by the California chapter of the National Diversity Council for his longtime advocacy for the LGBTQ community.

The award, presented June 20 at the inaugural LGBTQ+ Allies Diversity Summit, recognizes Dr. Bachicha’s work in the community, as a physician, and in his role as national co-chair of KP Pride, Kaiser Permanente’s business resource group that represents LGBTQ Permanente physicians and staff.

Dr. Bachicha, an ob/gyn with The Permanente Medical Group, says his work with KP Event is important because “despite recent victories, there are lots of barriers for many folks to be accepted at work and at home as their authentic and true selves.”

Dr. Bachicha has also served as a board member for the National Board of Medical Examiners, the organization that writes the examinations that all physicians in the United States and Canada must go by to become licensed. He was instrumental in creating NMBE’s Diversity and In
