One-Punch Man – The Party-Pooper Post

Hey! I can actually respond to this now that I’ve caught up with the manga.

This is an example of a problem I've noticed on Tumblr when it comes to dealing with social justice. Both of these are absolutely very valid points! Especially, the gay character (and as a One Piece fan, there is definitely a lot to criticize about the portrayal of transvestite and female characters in the series). It’s just that in this criticism, stuff feels like taken out of context.

The I’m not into dudes part is Saitama just creature casual - despite the prisoner character, it’s just one line, delivered casually, with no indicated “disgusted” reaction or anything, as usually goes with “no homo”. There is no indication of “no homo” in that scene in framing. It’s just Saitama saying he’s not into dudes.

The “hysterical woman” part is the same way. Fubuki stays firm to her goal - she’s supposed to be compassionate to the audience in her struggle and the work she put into it. You can criticize that there are only two major female characters, but neither

(of the female and queer representation in OPM and why GenoSai fans should care)

So OPM has sprung upon tumblr and is gaining popularity rapidly. That’s great. But it seems everyone is ignoring one tiny thing –

One-Punch Gentleman is incredibly misogynistic and homophobic.

At first, when I watched the anime, I chose to overlook Mosquito-Girl; I’ve chosen to give the series the profit of the hesitation, and dubbed her character as an exaggerated representation of over-sexualized females in a parody-framework.

Then I got to examine the manga (spoilers ahead.)

Let’s start with the female representation.

The only female villain we’ve seen thus far is Mosquito-Girl (so females hold the same visibility in the villain-department as demonic-air-fans.)

The only two female characters in the series are the Esper Sisters – two flat female tropes that hate each other. The first is Tatsumaki, a floating-tsundere-loli that is marked as aged 28 to create her sexualization legit.

Out of the Top-Ten S-Class heroes, she’s the

Yes hello hi I'm gay and I love One Punch Gentleman — OPM MANGA MAJOR SPOILERS!!! I know it’s stupid

OPM MANGA MAJOR SPOILERS!!!

I know it’s idiotic that I hoped it would be romantic but I did, I hoped the Psybuki smooch was real. Knowing that it’s just Fubuki sealing Psykos’ powers bc she wasn’t confident in herself and not some tragic wlw love story really sucks :( also seeing fubuki be so manipulative just feels a little icky u know? Appreciate I know she’s fully capable but…idk. Feels dangerously close to queerbait and it sucks bc I was really happy for a bit. Of course, I know shipping for them will always exist, but it’s not the same as the sudden idea that they were canon. Also, if this isn’t same-sex attracted then it means puri puri is still the only canon gay character in opm which makes me wanna [REDACTED]. Idk, I’m whining, sorry.

One-Punch Man's Controversial S-Class Heroes Explained

One-Punch Man has a variety of shocking characters, but two in particular have caused offense. Based on the crudely-drawn unique webcomic by ONE, the story of One-Punch Man is now an internationally popular anime and manga series with art by Yusuke Murata. Subverting both traditional Shonen and superhero tropes, One-Punch Man's lead character is Saitama, a superhero so formidable he is yet to be seriously challenged, but who also rarely gets the credit and widespread adulation he deserves.

At the core of One-Punch Man, there is both a Heroes Association and a Monster Association, and the characters in each are some of the wackiest, most outrageous designs that anime has to offer. The Monster Association in particular includes a figure called Black Sperm, who appears exactly as described, and a scantily clad dominatrix-style character who controls others with her whip. The heroes aren't any more conventional. Pig God is a giant, constantly-eating slob who devours his enemies whole, while there exists an entire team of her
