CSD Munich Pride
Freedom, diversity, queer self-determination. Munichs LGBTIQ* community is entering the season with a fierce motto. Pride Week begins on June Times are hard enough, says Thomas Niederbühl, political spokesperson for the Munich Pride. It doesnt need another gloomy motto. Liberté Diversité Queerité, on the other hand, confidently gets straight to the point and is definitely meme-worthy. We wont let extremists and populists take away our identity festival in who we are and our zest for the life we lead. We celebrate it!
This years motto is linked to demands that the Munich Pride had already raised as part of the German Prides nationwide campaign for the federal election (Vote Love!): We are always concerned with legal equality and promoting social acceptance of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, trans*, intersex*, and queer people, says Julia Bomsdorf, spokesperson for the Munich Pride. This must apply even more in times of increasing attacks against queer people and their institutions.
Tips and events for the gay community
Oktoberfest stands for tolerance, respect and diversity
The largest folk festival in the world stands for cosmopolitanism, tolerance and diversity. The City of Munich is committed to these values and expressly welcomes LGBTIQ* people at the Oktoberfest and fights against all forms of discrimination.
At the Wiesn , the City of Munich set an example by hoisting two rainbow flags at the entrance. "The Wiesn stands for Munich's motto 'live and let live' like no other event. Two men kissing or women holding hands are completely normal there. Tolerance is an essential measure of the peacefulness of the Wiesn," says Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner.
Events for the community at the Wiesn
Oktoberfest has been a meeting place for the LGBTIQ* community for many years. Some of the events own already achieved cult status and obtain place regularly at the Oktoberfest:
Sunday, 21 September, from 9 am: "Gay-Sunday" in the Bräurosl
Over 40 years ago, the gay Münchner Löwen Club (MLC) launched Gay first Wiesn Sunday, the gay and queer woman community mMunich Gay Travel Guide

About Munich and its gay life
Munich is the capital of the Free State of Bavaria and after Berlin and Hamburg the third largest city in Germany. Located in the foothills of the Alps, it offers many opportunities for recreation and sporting activities in a breathtaking scenery. Munich is a very wealthy metropolis and a popular location for media and IT companies.
The special flair and Bavarian way of life have always attracted great minds, such as the composers Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner, the writers Thomas Mann, Rainer Maria Rilke, Frank Wedekind, Lion Feuchtwanger and Bertolt Brecht, and the group of artists called ›Der Blaue Reiter‹ who made Munich a ce
