Pretty Little Liars' Tyler Blackburn Reveals He's Bisexual
Tyler Blackburn is speaking his truth.
In a fresh interview with the Advocate, the Pretty Minuscule Liars star is opening up about how his new role in the show Roswell, New Mexico has helped him to be comfortable in his own skin. By playing his nature Sgt. Alex Manes, who is a gay war veteran, Tyler says he is starting to "feel powerful in my own skin, and my own intellect, and in my own heart."
"I knew this guy in and out," the actor says of bringing Sgt. Manes to life. "I understood feeling repressed. I understood having issues with my father [wanting to feel] accepted by him. I understood wanting something but being afraid to have it. I understood self-doubt."
These feelings of "self-doubt" seemed to be heightened during Blackburn's youth, when he grew up in Los Angeles, Calif. The year-old shares, "I got bullied a lot by other boys, and I just felt like my mind was slowly entity taken from me."

"Pretty Little Liars" alum Tyler Blackburn is opening up about embracing his sexuality.
“I'm queer. I've identified as bisexual since (I was) a teenager," he recently told The Advocate. "I just want to touch powerful in my retain skin, and my control mind, and in my own heart.”
The actor, 32, is best known for his role as horrible boy Caleb Rivers on "Pretty Little Liars" and now plays gay war veteran Alex Maines on the CW's "Roswell, Fresh Mexico."
Blackburn recalled getting bullied for being "effeminate" growing up and said he would often eat lunch in his biology classroom.
“You create a shell around yourself for protection," he said. "And you start to make decisions based off of things outside of what you want and who you are. I stopped doing so many of the things that I loved doing because it felt safer. That right there is the outcome of oppression. When you literally have to mute who you are in order to touch safe. That’s soul-crushing.”

In a new interview with The Advocate, the year-old actor, leading known for his role of Caleb Rivers on Pretty Little Liars, reveals that he's queer. Blackburn describes himself as a "late bloomer" who went through a period of "self-hatred and shame" while growing up.
